Diving deep into the plastic pollution problem

  1. What facts did you learn about plastic pollution?
  2. What did the students at PS 15 do to study the plastic pollution problem?
  3. Why is collecting data important?
  4. What emotions did you feel when watching the part about dolphins and whales? 
  5. What is your favorite ocean animal?  Share two examples of how plastic pollution might harm this animal?

Part II: (27 minutes, 22:50 – 49:07)

Diving deep into the plastic pollution problem

  1. How could you tell that the students were prepared to speak at City Hall?
  2. What are some facts you learned about microfibers from the film?
  3. What can people do to reduce microfiber pollution?
  4. What can you invent or design to help solve the microfiber problem?

Part III: (24 minutes, 49:07 – end)

Science, data, and making change

  1. Why did the students lead a ”waste audit” (counting plastic items used) in the cafeteria?
  2. Is “Plastic Free Lunch Day” an action that could work at your school?
  3. Why did students plan a rally at City Hall?
  4. What actions can YOU take to stop plastic pollution?
